Burntisland Shipyard 3 Heriot Watt University 2

Thrilling comeback secures first win.

Could this have been the turning point of the Shippy season? You wouldn’t have thought so as the game entered the final 15 minutes. Sure the students were down to 10 men after Ryan Higgins had needlessly picked up second yellow card when he blocked a quickly taken free-kick. But when Anton Dowds missed the target with a header to complete his hat-trick it must have flicked a switch with the Shipyard players as they laid siege to the Heriot Watt goals and scored three times in a ten minute spell to stun the visitors and take their first three points of the season. Friendly match finishes all square

Burntisland Shipyard 2-2 Tynecastle U/20’s.

The Shipyard drew 2-2 with visitors Tynecastle U/20’s in this friendly encounter at Recreation Park on Saturday. Despite twice falling behind to the Under 20 League leaders the Shippy drew level with goals from a trialist in the first half and Sean Cusick in the second. The draw was the least the team deserved as they dominated possession, particularly in the first half, and with a bit of luck may have went on to gain a moral boosting win. The match gave Chris and Craig a chance to blood some trialists and over the piece they did not disappoint. As normal with these matches the raft of substitutions, seven in total for the Shippy, disrupted the flow in the second half but it was a very worthwhile exercise at the end of the day.

Friendly match arranged

The Shipyard will host Tynecastle FC U/20’s in a friendly match at Recreation Park on Saturday 7th January kick of 1.30pm.
