Shipyard 1 Dalgety Bay 2

Shipyard were without Small whose ankle was broken in the Tuesday game against East Fife. Whyte, McAndrew, Cook and Russell returned to the starting line up and Grieve made his first appearance of the season as a second half substitute.  Shipyard’s defensive frailties at set pieces were exposed in the 33rd minute when the Dalgety Bay trialist No9 found himself completely clear to nod in a corner kick. The goal did stir the Shipyard into action and the well organised and disciplined Dalgety Bay side had to work hard to contain them. Shipyard had several attempts on goal either side of the interval, hitting woodwork on 2 occasions, but could not find the net. Substitutions were the order of the 2nd half as several players were given work-outs.  As Shipyard continued to press for the equaliser, they were caught short in a Dalgety Bay attack and Parish finished of  a cross from the right to make it 2 – 0.  Shipyard’s consolation goal came  with 8 minutes remaining when McCue finished off  a solo weaving run with  a drive from 8 yards.
