Rosyth Civil Service. 0 Burntisland Shipyard. 0

The points were shared in this scoreless draw on a bumpy pitch at the Civil Service Grounds, Rosyth. It was the Shipyard who would have been the most disappointed having created and missed the best chances.

It was the Shipyard who were first to go close in the 11th minute when Cook rose at the back post to head agonisingly wide from a free kick. The next chance fell to Bristow who was put through one on one with the keeper but, Clarke pulled off a fine save. in the 31st minute the Shipyard passed up another chance when Johnston broke down the right and passed to Bristow, whose shot was saved by Clarke. Rosyth had a lot of possession and in the 33rd minute went close when the striker shot narrowly wide with a first time shot. Rosyth shot wide again in the 38th minute but, it was the Shipyard who went the closest so far when Cook again headed wide, this time of the far post, when it looked easier to score. One minute later in the 44th minute Bristow had the final chance of the half when he headed weakly into the keepers hands.

The second half started in the same fashion with the Shipyard almost breaking the deadlock in the 50th minute. This time Muirhead’s freekick crashed off the bar and went over. After this Rosyth contolled the game but did not create enough chances from the possession they had, although a couple of times it was only the referee blowing for offside that held them back. In the 68th minute a Rosyth forward beat keeper Chalmers to a high ball but headed wide. Rosyth pushed hard for a winner and went close twice in added time from an overhead kick and from a chance created when the Shipyard were appealing for a freekick. At the end of the day it was honours even in a good match well handled by referee Wilson.
