Balgonie Scotia 3 Burntisland Shipyard o

The Shipyard were well beaten by Scotia at King George V Park after a poor performance by a team that was missing 5 players from the side that recorded a 4-1 victory on their last visit. Scotia dominated from the start and had a couple of chances  before O’Hanlon’s miss hit shot after 17 minutes was the Shipyard’s first chance. Two minutes later Scotia took the lead when the unmarked Neil Sellars shot home from the edge of the box. Within 5 minutes it was 2-0, this time Ryan Thomson scoring from a tight angle.

The Shipyard started better in the second half, no doubt after a talking to from manager Whitehead. Although having a lot more possession only a couple of chances were created, which Scotia keeper Eadie dealt with comfortably. Against the run of play in the 69th minute, Scotia went 3-0 up when Thomson’s long range shot took a wicked deflection and looped over the stranded Chalmers and into the net. The Shipyard kept on going and O’Hanlon forced the keeper into a good save but, a consolation goal was not to be had. At the end of the day it was a well deserved victory for Scotia and left the Shipyard hoping that some of the injured players will be available again soon.
