More woe for sorry Shippy.
Once again, the Shipyard suffered a heavy defeat as the usual suspects raised their ugly heads. Bad decision making, bad luck and poor defending were the culprits as Stirling University scored seven without reply. The Shippy did create a few openings, particularly in the second half, and none more so when they were awarded a penalty, however, Sean Cusick’s shot from twelve yards was saved by Uni keeper James Donaldson who was so far off his line it was embarrassing.
Stirling opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 17th minute and doubled their lead in the 38th minute. Any thoughts the Shipyard had of getting back into the match evaporated within five minutes of the second period with the concession of another two goals. The aforementioned penalty incident deflated the Shippy and although they kept plugging away and created openings it was the visitors who looked the more likely and scored another three times as the clock ran down.
The Shipyard are at home again this weekend as Tynecastle visit Recreation Park for a league match on Saturday which kicks off at 2.30pm.
