A youthful Shipyard team that included 4 teenagers turned in a very poor performance against a City side managed by former Shipyard player Myles Allan. On a very wet surface City took an early lead after a slip in the Shipyard defence and doubled their lead with a headed goal in the first half. Although the Shipyard saw plenty of the ball, nothing was created in front of goal, with the Dunfermline keeper having little to do. Even after a half time roasting from the manager, the Shipyard still created few scoring chances and City soon made it 3-0. The Shipyard did get on the score sheet late on, courtesy of an own goal and then enjoyed their best spell in the match but, Dunfermline City deserved their win and played some good football.
