Burntisland Shipyard. 5 Star Hearts. 1

Shipyard in five star show.

A first half hat-trick from Paul Ferrier ensured the points were staying at Recreation Park as the Shipyard dominated for most of the match and put Saturday’s poor performance behind them. As usual with a midweek fixture, getting enough bodies was the problem and the Shipyard had veteran Mark James as one of only two substitutes. Gray continued in goal and Gear made his first start for the club whilst Lamont started in the midfield. Continue Reading

Bowhill knock Shipyard out of cup

A severely depleted Shipyard side had no answer to the hard working and well organised Bowhill team that ran out comfortable 3 – 0 winners at Wallsgreen Park. With regular keeper Andy Martin suspended along with Tam Williams, Owen McCue injured and Kieran Marsh unavailable, Billy Whitehead had to shuffle his pack and decided to go with Stuart Gray in goals. Gordon Grieve moved back to centre half with Bryan Cook and Steven Dow gaining starting slots. Kenny Gear made his debut from the bench and Lee Small returned again after his long injury lay off. Dominant display secures victory

As the midweek fixtures got underway, a goal in each half from the strike force sealed a deserved victory for the Shipyard at Strathmiglo and kept up the recent run of good league form. Mark Hamilton returned to the starting eleven after a two week layoff replacing the unavailable Craig Russell whose works van had broken down. Bryan Cook also returned and took a place on the bench. Balgonie Scotia.1 Burntisland Shipyard. 1

Shipyard forced to settle for draw

Missed chances and a bit of bad luck cost the Shipyard two points as they came from a goal down to draw with Scotia at King George V Park. On a fiery pitch and with a blustery wind blowing, both teams tried to play good football in what was an entertaining match. Manager Billy Whitehead selected the same starting line up as last week with new signing Kieran Marsh taking a place amongst the substitutes. Continue Reading

Burntisland Shipyard. 3 Kinross. 1

Ferrier double seals cup victory

The Shipyard put last week’s disappointment behind them as they eased to a comfortable win against Kinross in the Scottish Brewers Cup at a misty Recreation Park. The Shipyard dominated for long spells and missed a hatful of chances before a double in the second half from Paul Ferrier sealed the win. Mark Hamilton missed out as he had not fully recovered from the knock he picked up last week at Strath. Therefore his 100% appearance record was gone, though he did take a place on the bench. Mark Brough returned to the starting line-up after recovering from his injury problems. Continue Reading

Shipyard lose in five goal thriller

The Shipyard crashed out of the Fife Amateur Cup after Strathmiglo came from behind to deservedly win and make it into the semi-final. The Shipyard had cruised into a two goal lead inside 25 minutes but, Strath were level by half-time and scored the winner as the game moved into the last ten minutes. Stuart Gray and Paul Wilson replaced Bryan Cook and Steven Dow from last week’s starting eleven, with Mark Brough still only fit enough for a place on the bench. Continue Reading

Fair City. 1 Burntisland Shipyard. 3

City lights dimmed in dazzling Shipyard comeback

Three goals in the final fifteen minutes saw the Shipyard gain a deserved win as they again came from a man and a goal down to secure the three points. In what was a fiercely fought contest both teams ended the match with ten men, though neither could have too many complaints about their respective red cards. The Shipyard starting eleven showed one change from last week with Bryan Cook replacing the injured Mark Brough who found a place on the bench Continue Reading

Burntisland Shipyard. 4 Kinross. 1

McAndrew strike sparks Shipyard revival

The Shipyard kept their unbeaten run in 2012 going with a 4 – 1 win over Kinross, though it was not until the 43rd minute when Steven McAndrew scored a screamer that they established any control of the proceedings after falling a goal and a man down. Ferrier, McCue and McAndrew all regained starting places after last week with Cook, Wilson and the unavailable Gray dropping out. Continue Reading
