Code of Conduct 

General

Everyone associated with the Club and visiting teams, from Players, Coaches and Club Officials to  Visitors and Spectators, has a role to play in Honouring our Game. High standards of behaviour, respect and fair play are expected from everyone.

The following sections help to outline what is expected from individuals in their various capacities and all Club Coaches, Players and Officials have a personal obligation which they sign up to on joining the Club.

If individuals do not follow the Code of Conduct, action may be taken by the Club, League or National Association in respect of this.

Coaches and Club Officials

Coaches and Club Officials are in a position of great responsibility and should be regarded as role models to players, spectators and visitors to the Club.

Every Coach and Club Official at the Club has a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in the game and is expected to subscribe to the following code of conduct:

  • Show respect to others involved in the game including match officials, opposition players, coaches, officials and spectators.

 

  • Understand and abide by the laws, rules and spirit of the game and any competition in which the Club participates.

 

  • Promote fair play and high standards of behaviour.

 

  • Work with officials and always show respect.

 

  • Never engage in public criticism of officials.

 

  • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour.

 

  • Place the well-being, safety and enjoyment of every player above everything, including winning.

 

  • Explain exactly what is expected of players and what they can expect in return.

 

  • Encourage all spectators to adhere to the Code of Conduct.

 

  • Always be honest with players, officials, spectators and visitors.

 

  • Develop mutual trust and respect with every player to build their self-esteem.

 

  • Encourage each player to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance

 

  • Always look for and encourage positive attributes, performance and effort

Players

Players all have a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in the game. Fair play and respect for others in the game is essential and every player has a big part to play in promoting this by committing to:

 

  • Always work hard to learn and improve and play to the best of their ability.

 

  • Play fairly with sportsmanship and respect.

 

  • Respect team-mates, opposition, officials and self.

 

  • Play by the rules and always respect the referee.

 

  • Value the opposition by playing hard and fair.

 

  • Shake hands with the opposition and officials at the end of the game.

 

  • Listen and respond to advice from the Coach.

 

  • Talk to one of the Coaches or Club Officials if anything is causing concern at the Club.

 

 

Spectators and Visitors

Everyone involved at the Club has a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in the game. Fair play and respect for others is encouraged not only for Club players, coaches and officials, including those of visiting teams, but also for all spectators and visitors to the Club.

Please play your part by observing the following Code of Conduct:

  • Show general respect to all of those involved in the game, including match officials, players, coaches, club officials and other spectators or visitors

 

  • Respect the decisions made by match officials.

 

  • Refrain from engaging in offensive, threatening, insulting or abusive language or behaviour.

 

  • Remain outside the field of play, within the designated spectator areas.

 

  • Refrain from drinking alcohol while within the designated spectator areas and the public areas adjacent to the grounds.

 

  • Respect and respond positively to requests from Officials of the Club attempting to resolve any spectator/visitor issues.

Spectators or visitors who, in the view of any Club Official, breach the Code of Conduct and refuse to follow the guidance from a Club Official attempting to resolve matters of concern may be asked to leave the grounds. Regrettably, in the event that they refuse to do so, the local Police will be called to deal with the matter.

Personal Commitment

 

Coaches and Club Officials are in a position of great responsibility and should be regarded as role models to players, spectators and visitors to the Club.

Every Coach and Club Official at the Club has a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in the game and is expected to subscribe to the following code of conduct to Honour our Game.

On and off the field, I will:

  • Show respect to others involved in the game including match officials, opposition players, coaches, officials and spectators.

  • Promote fair play and high standards of behaviour.
  • Work with officials and always show respect.
  • Never engage in public criticism of officials.

Code of Conduct  –   Players

Personal Commitment
