It looks like the balls could have done with a better shuffle as the Shipyard were drawn to face Spartans in three of the four competitions when the draws were made at the recent E.O.S. board meeting. The East of Scotland Qualifying Cup sees us at home to Spartans in the second round after both teams received in bye in the first. The fixture is reversed as we visit Ainslie Park in the first round of the South Region Challenge Cup. The winners will be at home to either Peebles Rovers or Kelso United. The King Cup draw threw up another home tie, this time against regular cup opponents Leith Athletic. Lastly the group section for the east of Scotland Qualifying League again saw us paired with Spartans, albeit the EOS team rather than the Lowland League version. Also in the group are Civil Service Strollers and Eyemouth United.
Manager Myles Allan said of the draws ” It’s disappointing to be playing the same team in two of the competitions and possibly three if they decide to field a strong side in the EOS Qualifying League match. In my short time at the club, this will be the fourth time I have faced leith in a cup tie, so it will be a breath of fresh air to face civil Service Strollers and Eyemouth united in the other matches”.
