Who can remember Saturday 16th September 2006? For those of you who don’t that was the date the last time the Shipyard were drawn at home in a Scottish Cup tie, it’s almost eleven years since Annan Athletic visited Burntisland for a Scottish Qualifying Cup (south) tie.
That long run was ended at Hampden Park today as the Shippy were paired at home with Scottish Amateur Cup winners Colville Park AFC in the first preliminary of the William Hill Scottish Cup. The Motherwell based amateurs are scheduled to visit Recreation Park on Saturday 12th August 2017. Ironically, should the Shipyard qualify for the next round another home tie, this time against Preston Athletic, would be the reward.
News of kick off time and admission prices will be announced in due course.
For the record the Shipyard lost 3-1 to Annan that day with Gavin Gray scoring for the Shippy.
