Although the recent bad weather has put paid to our last two matches, firstly at Coldstream and then at Hawick, there has been plenty of activity at Recreation Park with a couple of major transfer deals taking place. Midfielder Johnny Galloway has left the Club to join his local team Crossgates Primrose and we would like to put on record our thanks to Johnny for his time and effort at the Club and wish him all the best for the future. Coming in to the Shippy just a few days later was local lad Ben Anthony. Ben joins us from junior outfit Thornton Hibs where he was top scorer in the East Region Junior Super League and despite protracted negotiations the Club were thrilled to get Ben’s signature in the end. Ben is chomping at the bit to get started in the East of Scotland league following the two recent postponements and hopefully he will get his first taste of competitive action this Saturday as the Shipyard host high-flying Tynecastle FC at Recreation Park. Note the kick-off for this match is at 1.30pm. Saturday will be our final match of the year at Recreation Park as the league takes a break for one week and unfortunately we do not have a home festive fixture as we are away to local rivals Oakley United on the 28th December before we first foot another local rival in Glenrothes on the 4th of January. That being said we have a great game to look forward to on the 11th of January with another Fife Derby, this time against Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts at Recreation Park and with the last match still fresh in everybody’s mind it promises to be a cracker.
