Spartans and Dundee United next for Shipyard

Busy week ahead for Shipyard squad.

The Shipyard players face a hectic midweek with two games in 24 hours as firstly the team visit Spartans EOS on Qualifying League duty on Tuesday night before playing their attractive friendly against Dundee United’s under 20 side the following evening. Manager Myles Allan took time out to look ahead to the fixtures when he said “We’re looking forward to a busy week. Obviously the Spartans game is priority and I guess that after the result on Saturday we’ve given ourselves a chance to progress from the group. However, Spartans will rightly be favourites on Tuesday but hopefully we can cause an upset. We know that they are a good footballing side and will look to get the ball down and play. That’s also what we’re trying to get our guys to do and we’ve got nothing to lose so we’ll go there and give it our best shot”. When asked about his thoughts on the United match he spoke of quality his side will face and also the enjoyment his players should take out of the match by saying “Wednesday’s game against Dundee United is a great chance for the guys to play against some of the best youngsters in the country. I think that more than half of our squad is 22 or under so we’ll not have much of an advantage when it comes to experience or physicality. Again, it’s another match where there is no pressure on us. I just want the guys to enjoy the experience and the best way to do that is to compete well and be confident on the ball”.

Entry to the Dundee United match is £3 for adults and £1 for concessions. There will also be a match programme available for this match.
