The Shipyard youngsters are on the brink of securing the U/14 league championship after gaining a narrow 1-0 victory over Kennoway at Recreation Park on Sunday. After a nervous start to the match the Shipyard boys took control and only the excellent Kennoway keeper kept the scores level at half-time. The pressure eventually paid off midway through the second half when a Kieran Jack pass found Craig Watt and “Rooney” netted from around eight yards to score the decisive goal. The boys now just need one point from their remaining three matches and will look to secure that point when they play their only challengers to the title Pars Young Boys at Recreation Park this Thursday night with the kick off at 7pm. I am sure they would appreciate a good turn out from the town to cheer them over the finishing line.
