Shippy thrashed in Scottish Cup nightmare

Saturday 3rd September 2016 will be remembered for all the wrong reasons for the Shipyard as they suffered their heaviest ever defeat, certainly in modern times, as they conceded fourteen goals without reply to Bonnyrigg Rose in the William Hill Scottish Cup 2nd preliminary round at New Dundas Park.

Given the upheaval over the summer at the club, it was always a draw that the team could have done without as Toorie and Chris go about rebuilding a squad to compete in the East of Scotland League, never mind with a top junior outfit like Bonnyrigg.

To be fair to the players they gave their all in the match but the difference in quality and wages for that matter was huge. The hosts simple overran the Shippy in the second half in particular as they scored at will. 5-0 down at half time Rose never took their foot off the gas and scored another nine in the second to make the final score 14-0.
