Shipyard suffer heavy defeat to United youngsters

Burntisland Shipyard 0 Dundee United U/20’s 9.

The United youngsters gave the Shipyard a lesson, particularly in finishing, as they scored seven times in the first half. Hat-trick scorer Rafa Malaga must be the only ex- Real Madrid player to star at Recreation Park. Apparently United have signed him after his release from the Bernabeu. After a roasting from the manager at half-time the Shipyard competed far better in the second half and should have pulled a goal back from the penalty spot but Adam Doig, who had been fouled for the award, hit a tame shot virtually straight at the keeper. United did manage to score another two goals in the last five minutes to take their tally to nine. The match was marred in the last minute when the referee had to red card United’s Jordan Moore for an inexplicable elbow into the face of the Shipyard’s Billy Rogerson. The United goalscorers were Rafa Malaga (8, 10, 85); Jordan Moore (13, 40, 88); Ola Adeyemo (20, 28); Jamie Montgomery (25).
