DUNDEE UNITED FRIENDLY ARRANGED.
The club is delighted to announce that Dundee United have agreed to send their U/20 side to play the Shipyard at Recreation Park, on Wednesday 6th August 2014 in a friendly match. In what is sure to be a huge test for his team, it is one that manager Myles Allan is relishing as he commented on the fixture being confirmed “It’s a fantastic opportunity to test ourselves against some of the best young players in the country. The Dundee United youth system has been in focus this week with Ryan Gauld’s transfer to Sporting Lisbon. I’d imagine that this will provide inspiration to the young players that we’ll be up against and they will now believe that similar opportunities will be open to them if they do well over the next few years. For our guys it will be a good learning experience as, let’s not kid anyone, we will have plenty of players who will be the same age as the United lads.
Hopefully there will be a decent crowd as it’s a good opportunity for the many Fife-based United fans to see who is coming through to fill Ryan Gauld’s shoes. I should also say well done to our coach, James Lock, who used his Tayside contacts to arrange the match.
Admission to the match will be the usual East of Scotland League prices of £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
