Cup Draws Made

South Region Challenge Cup and King Cup draws made.

With the new season only a few weeks away the draws for cup competitions have gotten underway with the King Cup, for EoS First Division clubs only, being the first drawn. The Shipyard were handed an away tie in the first round against Preston Athletic, ironically the last team we played in a competitive match back in December 2020. A Darrell Anthony hat-trick helped the Shippy to a 4-1 win. The winner of the match will be away to Kinnoull in the second round. We have only faced the Perth side once since they joined the East of Scotland League two seasons ago, when a Robbie Crawford double gave the Shippy a 2-1 victory at Tulloch Park in October 2019. Dates for these ties will be determined in due course.

The new regionalised South Region Challenge Cup was drawn last Friday with the Shipyard receiving a bye in the first round of the North East section before being given a home draw in the second round against Lowland League outfit University of Stirling. This match is scheduled to take place on Saturday 16th October 2021. The Shippy have only ever faced the University on one occasion previously and that was way back on November 2nd 2012, in what was our first season the EoSFL. Stirling were the reigning EoSFL champions when they rolled into town for an East of Scotland Qualifying Cup tie and they were far too strong for the Shipyard comfortably winning 5-0.
