After visiting 2 venues in Dunfermline, the friendly match against Carnegie Thistle eventually took place at Recreation Park. With one pitch not marked and at the other the goal posts mysteriously disappearing it was decided to head to Burntisland to play the game.
With nine players still on holiday, at functions or nursing injuries, it gave manager Whitehead the chance to look at some trialists. The game also saw the return of a “Shippy Legend” Mark James who donned a Shipyard strip for the first time in several years, after agreeing to help Billy out. In what was essentially a low key match, very well handled by the Ref, the team’s shared 4 goals in a 2 – 2 draw, with Huskie and Dziennik on target for the Shipyard. The 3 trialist subs that came on in the second half all showed great promise and would be welcome additions to the squad.
