Loco’s derail Shippy in Scottish Cup.
The Shipyard fell at the first hurdle in the William Hill Scottish Cup but they can be proud of their performance against a very strong Highland League team. Had a couple of decent penalty claims been given it might have been different but overall Inverurie deserved their win. Captain Craig Lowe did not travel north due to work commitments in what was a blow to Myles for this big match. Continue Reading

Nine man Shipyard edged out by late goal.
The Shipyard were on the receiving end of some baffling decisions but can hold their heads high after turning in a gritty, battling and never say die performance in the second half as decision after decision seemed to go against them. Blair Smart replaced the unavailable Craig McKay in the centre of defence and there were starting places for new signings Grant Blyth and Andy MacDonald. Stevie Connor returned from injury while Lee Henderson and Gavin Bridges dropped to the bench. Ewan Fotheringham was out through injury. Continue Reading

Poor start to league campaign.
It was a case of one step forward and two steps back for the Shipyard after today’s game against Berwick. After all the good things that were on show last week against Duns ,there was nothing to write home about today as the Berwick keeper never had a save to make throughout the match. Stuart Blake, Ryan Connor and Adam Doig were unavailable while Stevie Connor was ill. Jordan Mushet returned to the team with loan signing Grant Blyth and a trialist taking their places on the bench. Manager gets present he wished for.
For the best part of forty five minutes the Shipyard toiled against a young Duns side at Recreation Park but after Craig Lowe’s equaliser just before half-time, it was one way traffic as the homesters dominated the second half and could or perhaps should have scored a few more. It was certainly a result that had birthday boy Myles Allan smiling at the full time whistle. Ryan Connor was in goal replacing the unavailable Jordan Mushet and Ewan Fotheringham came in for Lee Henderson in the only changes from the starting eleven against Hibs on Wednesday night. Hibs made to work hard for victory.
If ever a match vindicated the club’s decision to join the East of Scotland League then the game against Hibernian was it. A healthy crowd and a competitive match against a Premiership u/20 side that the Shipyard held their own against for most of the ninety minutes proved the point. Great credit must go to Myles, Jason and the players for the way they went about their task. Sure it was a defeat but nobody of a Shipyard persuasion could have any complaints about how their team performed. There were two changes to the team that lost narrowly to Craigroyston with Dale Robertson and Pete Bell returning at the expense of Michael Morrison and Ewan Fotheringham. Continue Reading

Shipyard edged out in nine goal thriller.
It’s a hard one to explain this one. The Shipyard were 3-0 up after 43 minutes and as the manager said after the match “The team did not play that well in the first half” and 4-3 down after 54 minutes summed up the kind of match it was with both defences having the day off and between them conceding three penalties. In between there was also some cracking goals scored. The Shipyard had a much stronger squad to choose from today will only four missing through injury and suspension. Continue Reading

Defensive woes continue
A much improved performance but still the same result was the outcome against Leith Athletic at Meadowbank 3G on Tuesday night as the Shipyard went down by 5-1. Although it was a slightly heavier defeat than Saturday Leith was a far superior side to Heriot Watt University. That old chestnut of injury and unavailability reared its ugly head as no fewer than seven players were missing, indeed Myles had Jason were the only substitutes available. Continue Reading

Poor start to the new season
The new season did not get off to a good start for the Shipyard as a combination of poor defending and wayward shooting saw them lose 3-0 to Heriot Watt University at Riccarton Campus. Jordan Mushet, Michael Morrison, Blair Smart, Craig Lowe, Adam Doig and Renato Sartarello all made their East of Scotland debuts for the club at these excellent facilities. Kevin Masson was missing due to injury. Continue Reading
