Home league fixtures against Kinnoull, Peebles Rovers & St Andrews United to be confirmed.

Away league fixtures against Haddington Athletic, Leith Athletic & Ormiston to be confirmed.

Rover and Rover again.

As we start to look ahead to next season a couple of cup draws have already taken place and for the Shipyard we can look forward to visits from the Rovers in the shape of Raith in the first round of the newly expanded Fife Cup. In the South Region Challenge Cup draw it is the Rovers from Threave who will make the long journey to Recreation Park. The dates of both fixtures have still to be confirmed.

Next season’s opponents unveiled as Shipyard are drawn in Conference A.

The Shipyard will face four different Fife opponents next season with Oakley United and St Andrews United also featuring beside the Shippy in Conference A. Both teams will be played on a home and away basis. There will be a visit from Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts and the Shippy will travel to newcomers Glenrothes with both these teams in Conference B. Four teams that were in Conference B with us last season, Dunipace, Eyemouth United, Haddington Athletic and Lothian Thistle HV will again provide opposition both home and away. Dalkeith Thistle and Tynecastle will again visit Recreation Park as Conference B teams.

The format means that every team over the two conferences will be faced at least once giving every club 17 home and 17 away league fixtures. Both Conference winners will be promoted with the two runners up playing off for the third promotion place.

The fixture list will be announced in due course.

Home tie for Shipyard in Scottish Cup

Following Saturday’s victory over Girvan the Shipyard have been paired with Cumbernauld Colts in the 1st Round of the William Hill Scottish Cup. The tie is scheduled to take place at Recreation Park on Saturday 22nd September 2018 with the kick-off being at 3.00pm. The Shipyard have never faced Cumbernauld before with the Broadwood based club being relatively new to the Scottish Cup scene, having only been formed as an adult team a few seasons ago when they were parachuted straight into the pyramid system at Lowland League level.

Shipyard head to Girvan after Scottish Cup win.

Following the 4-1 victory over Golspie Sutherland FC the Shipyard will hit the road again as they travel to face Girvan FC in the 2nd Preliminary Round of the William Hill Scottish Cup. The match is scheduled to take place at Hamilton Park, Girvan on Saturday 1st September 2018 with a 3.00pm kick off. Girvan are no strangers to the Shippy, though the last time the teams met was the 2nd round of the Qualifying Cup in the 1994/95 season when the Shipyard ran out 5-2 winners at Recreation Park on their way to the Qualifying Cup Final and the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup before eventually losing out to Huntly FC.

Shippy head north for Scottish Cup tie.

The Shipyard were landed with a long trek to face Golspie Sutherland FC in the first preliminary round of the William Hill Scottish Cup when the draw was made at Hampden Park today. Grant Brough’s team will make the near 400-mile round trip to King George V Park on Saturday 11th August 2018 to visit the North Caledonian Football League club. Golspie finished runner-up to league champions Orkney FC (it could have been a longer trip) last season in the nine-team division. Golspie like ourselves are full members of the Scottish Football Association and have participated in the country’s flagship competition for many years, though this will be the first time the clubs have met.

When asked what he thought of the draw Grant said “This is my first Scottish Cup tie and throughout my career as a player or manager I don’t think I have ever had to travel so far for a match. Unsurprisingly, I know very little about Golspie but I will do my homework so we are as prepared as possible for the game.”

The winner of the tie faces a trip to Ayrshire to take on Girvan FC in the second preliminary round scheduled to take place on Saturday 1st September 2018.

Shippy land big guns in Conference B

The Shipyard could not have gotten a more tougher conference than the one they landed in after the East of Scotland Football League unveiled its new look ahead of the 2018/2019 season.

Old adversaries Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale, Tynecastle and Eyemouth United from previous years are joined by a whole host of new opponents, some well known and others not so much after the three conference divisions were announced recently. There will be some Fife derbies as Dundonald Bluebell and Crossgates Primrose are also in Conference B.
