George joined the club as a teenager from Kirkcaldy YMCA Juniors in September 1975 and went on to serve the club for 20 seasons. Signed as a pacey striker, he is remembered in his centre forward role for his 1977 Scottish Cup goal against Berwick Rangers in the 2nd minute of the game. He was, however, destined for the central defensive role in which he is best remembered as the club’s captain and silent assassin, retaining that ‘man’s game philosophy throughout his career. George who captained the side in its famous victory over premier league Dunfermline Athletic and lists the 1-0 Fife Amateur Cup Final victory in season 1989/90 against Victoria Rovers as his most memorable moment, played in over 600 games for the club before finally hanging up his boots at the end of the successful 1994/95 season.
